In helping you create a landscape that fits your personality, my aesthetic choices are informed by my academic training (M.S. in Botany) and two decades of field experience with California plant communities. I combine knowledge of how plants perform in nature with an assessment of the potential and limitations of your site in planning a garden that will develop in harmony with its environment. Many of the benefits of a native plant gardens can be enjoyed even if natives are only part of the total design. Natives can be planted among most established trees and shrubs or can provide a matrix that includes wetter zones where fruit trees or other mesic species can grow.
